Day 1

Berlin

Arrival at the new Berlin Airport (BER). Meet & greet and transfer to your hotel in downtown Berlin. Before arriving there, we stop at a unique church, which has been built in 1701 for the French Huguenots, Calvinists who had to flee from France for religious reasons. We take you to the church and the Huguenots Museum before you arrive at your hotel.

Day 2

Berlin

This morning discover all the treasures of Germany‘s capital – from Parliament Building „Reichstag“ to Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, the famous bombed out Church „Kaiser Wilhelm“, and many other sights of Berlin’s exciting history.
After an individual lunchbreak we leave the big city and drive to a hotel in medieval style, built into parts of a castle and next to a medieval dome, but featuring modern rooms and facilities. This unique place is only an hour away from Martin Luther’s birthplace. Overnight in Berlin

Day 3

Eisleben & Erfurt

Today we start following the life of the great reformer. Our tour is the only one that actually follows his life step by step from his birth through the different stages of his religious growth from being a sceptic via becoming a monk to ending up as a reformer who changed the course of the world.

So let’s go to the little town of Eisleben and visit his birthhouse and the church St. Peter & Paul Baptism Center in which he was baptized. This place is also a center for baptism with interesting features.

Back on the road we stop for a picnic in the woods, where the Memorial Thunder and Lightning marks the place at which in 1505 Luther got into a thunderstorm, was almost hit by lightning and swore that if only he would survive the storm, he would become a monk. Two weeks later he joined the order of Augustinian monks at Erfurt, which will be our next destination. Here we will join a nightly candlelight tour of the monastery. Overnight at Erfurt.

Day 4

Eisenach

Day Excursion to the city of Eisenach with visit of the Luther House and the church , in which the composer Johann Sebastian Bach was baptised and Martin Luther preached several times. Today’s highlight is a visit of the world famous Wartburg, towering high on a wooded rock.Here Luther translated the New Testament from Hebrew and Greek into the German language. Back in Erfurt in the afternoon – enjoy some free time in this beautiful medieval city. Overnight in Erfurt

Day 5

Weimar, Leipzig & Wittenberg

Short drive to the elegant city of Weimar, where Germany’s first democracy was founded, the „Weimar Republic“. But we come for the world’s most beautiful and most famous bibles, kept in one of the most impressive libraries of the world.

Luther worked for 12 years on a new edition of the Old and the New Testament in German language. We will stand in front of the original first prints.

On to the city of Leipzig. Visit Johann Sebastian Bachs famous church St. Thomas, where he worked and lived for 27 years.
In late afternoon we will finally arrive at Wittenberg, the mother town of the Reformation. Follow us to Matin Luthers church „Stadtkirche“ and enjoy an english speaking service, in which couples are invited to renew their vow. Overnight in Wittenberg

Day 6

Wittenberg

This whole day is dedicated to Martin Luther, who lived and worked here over 40 years. From nailing the 95 theses onto the church door to being declared an outlaw and being excommunicated he never gave up and stood firm.

Stand in the house where he lived, stop for a prayer in the church „Stadtkirche“ where he used to preach, see his university Leucorea and finally stop by the famous Castle Church at the monument, where he nailed his 95 thesis. Listen to the story of the Luther Oak and see many more places of the Reformation.

Tonight enjoy our German farewell buffet at a historic brewery in the center of Wittenberg. Overnight in Wittenberg

Day 7

Berlin
